Are you a Health and Fitness Coach looking for the opportunity to join a thriving, established team and make a lasting, positive impact within iCareiMove, part of the Future Fit Group?

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and inclusive Health and Fitness Coach to support adult men across Worcestershire who are living with obesity or are overweight and are currently inactive or have low levels of physical activity.

As part of the Fit for Life: Men’s Health Programme, you will empower participants to improve their health and wellbeing by building confidence, increasing activity levels, managing weight, and developing sustainable lifestyle habits. Through safe and effective exercise delivery, health coaching, and practical behaviour change support, you will help individuals achieve long-term positive health outcomes.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Health and Fitness Coach, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of the Fit For Life sessions and groups by working closely with the iCareiMove Project Lead and Director of Health.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate safe, inclusive and progressive physical activity sessions for inactive men with a higher BMI, adapting activities to individual needs, confidence, mobility and health conditions.
  • Use evidence-based behaviour change, motivational interviewing and coaching techniques to support goal setting, self-monitoring, problem solving, relapse prevention and long-term habit formation.
  • Provide healthy lifestyle and nutrition information consistent with the Eatwell Guide and NICE guidance, signposting to specialist support where needed and working within professional boundaries.
  • Build trusted, non-judgemental relationships that encourage engagement, attendance, peer support and programme completion.
  • Work with healthcare professionals, social prescribers, community organisations and referral partners, using local pathways to signpost or refer participants for additional support.
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance data and outcome measures, contributing to monitoring, evaluation, quality assurance, information governance and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Level 3 Personal Training qualification or equivalent, current First Aid qualification and Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain.
  • Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification, or commitment to obtain within an agreed timescale.
  • Training or experience in behaviour change, health coaching, motivational interviewing or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of NICE PH49, NICE NG246, the Eatwell Guide, obesity, inactivity, health inequalities, men’s health barriers, safeguarding and inclusive practice.
  • Experience delivering physical activity or lifestyle interventions to inactive adults, including people living with overweight or obesity and those from underserved communities.
  • Ability to adapt sessions, manage groups with varied needs, maintain records and monitor participant outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, motivational and communication skills.
  • Ability to support people with low confidence or readiness to change in an accessible, non-stigmatising way.
  • Competence in goal setting, action planning, self-management support and safe adaptation of physical activity.
  • Ability to deliver both one-to-one and group interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Good organisation, record keeping and commitment to evidence-based practice, CPD and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work within professional boundaries, maintain confidentiality and comply with safeguarding, clinical governance, information governance and health and safety requirements.

Desirable:

  • Level 4 Specialist Obesity and Diabetes Practitioner qualification, health coaching qualification, Mental Health First Aid training or relevant healthcare registration.
  • Experience delivering men’s health programmes, working in community, public health or healthcare settings, supporting long-term conditions or working with referral pathways.

Zero hour contract (1 – 2 sessions per week)

Job location: Community venues across Worcestershire, with occasional home, outdoor and digital delivery

£26.67 per hour
